being the observant person I am, I finally noticed this poor looking branch sticking out of the ground in my flower bed.  It looks to be a branch torn off the tree from the side yard.

Potting soil is carefully packed around the torn edges and a little blanket is lovingly wrapped around the bottom.

I think I will take her with me to buy some flowers and explain how plants grow from seeds and not torn off tree branches. 

I hope I don't break her heart.
