Matt

Funny story about my nephew. Matt is in the Navy and has been stationed on the east coast for over two years.  He and Ashley have become very good friends and she texts him ALL THE TIME.

He has been transfered to San Diego and decided to visit family on the way there. So, bravely, I let Ashley drive almost three hours south to Benson to visit her cousin all by herself.  I don't think I like this new "I'm 18 and I am an adult now" stage. She was only gone for two days but she had a great time and was back in time for finals on Monday. 

Matt reported to his base and then informed Ashley that he was being shipped to Singapore for 4 months. There would be no calls on international water. So he would talk to her in 4 months.
She was very sad at this news.

Then yesterday at 5 pm she received a call from him saying he would be at Grandmas house in an hour.  It was all a practical joke! He was just giving her a hard time and she believed it! She was mad! (As mad as you can get without REALLY being mad!)

After a long visit at Grandmas, Matt took her out to dinner.  He left San Diego so fast that he was still in his uniform. Well, someone paid for their dinner because he was a soldier.  He felt uncomfortable about this since he was only stationed in South Carolina, but I thought it was so sweet!

Now Ashley is off to Benson again and will be back Christmas eve.
