Marching band is over. Yep, this means I have time to do the things I should be doing. Like laundry, dishes and cleaning my bathrooms (can I say I already miss marching season?)
The uniform closet is cleaned out, although when you walk in you still get a whiff of adolescence (and I am talking about the downside of adolescence!) All that awaits is the semi-annual trip to the cleaners.
My job is done.
The show was great this year! everyone worked so hard! And I think it being Ashley's last year was kind of hard on her. It made me sad too watching all the seniors who I have had the privilege to get to know these last three years hang up their uniforms and be done. I remember when I was in guard and the band had become so much of my family and my life. These kids have invested even more time and I can see the bittersweet feelings they are struggling with. But we still have half a year, concerts, other competitions, full orchestra, and jazz band to look forward to.
And I am coming back next year. After all, no one else wants the job as uniform specialist. And Britt has decided she likes twirling the flag and hopes to do the same with a rifle. (yeah, as long as she does it away from me. Rifles are attracted to me and my knobby head!)
Well, November is here and Cort is going to be 20! Yes, she is no longer a teen. .... having a hard time believing that. Someone keeps teasing me about being a grandma soon but I don't have to worry cuz she is still in the 'boys are stupid' phase and I am okay with that.
I still think she should go on a mission. She would be so good at it! I think she is even thinking about it!
Ashley is in the middle front and Brittany on far right.
